Arleta Turnbull
Arleta Turnbull, also known as the multidimensional visual artist Yellow Petal Photo, is a 2023 mama whose mission is to fill the gaps in today’s societal birth story, gather community and share stories/ideas that aid in supporting the wellbeing of others, specifically the self-parent-child bond. She is fascinated in the idea of recovery from intergenerational trauma and the impacts of globalization on family ties.
Her first form of connection when moving to Canada at the age of 5 was emotional awareness and play. She was unable to communicate verbally at the time because her English was not yet developed.
Her parents have always been her greatest representation of resiliency on their quest for a peaceful and loving human experience.
They left Poland when the Polish gained their independence from Soviet Russia and people were allowed to leave the country. Her lineage survived Nazi occupied Poland, and both World Wars. They were farmers who had just enough to survive. They live and continue to live in the poorest parts of Poland, where neighbourly love goes far and the community depends on each other for survival.
Photography has always been a tool that she’s worked with along her journey (since teenhood) to support her emotional processing. Being able to document her present moment reality and have a source for reflection, she was able to ground any anxieties along the way, through the mindfulness gifts that photography offered.

Arleta’s Philosophy of Care
I believe motherhood is a full time job and a lifelong vocation. Mothers shouldn’t be burdened with lack of resources when they are in their tender child raising years. They should be respected, honored, cared for appropriately by society, so that they may have all they need to thrive.
I have a profound passion for the facilitation of transformative experiences and community conversations around healing intergenerational trauma, re-patterning and inner child healing are what brought me to co-found HoneyWomb.
We recognize the healing power of ritual, art, ceremony, non-violent communication, and interconnection to self + the land.
We honor diverse cultural practices, offering social and ecological affirming support that fosters confidence, connection, and agency in reproductive health. We are here to welcome transformative, empowering experiences that comes with integrating our womb’s intelligence with the healing of the earth.
We are proud to work as a collaborative group of contracted specialists as a part of our growing team who help bridge the gap in community maternity and family care.
